To follow up on Artistic Director Law Wing-fai’s highly acclaimed atmospheric music theatre “When Petals Fall in Serenity” last month, Wuji Ensemble is proud to present “Blank-leaving”.

Wuji Ensemble is known for its training steeped in Chinese culture. In addition to its weekly rehearsals of ruan and pipa, Ensemble members follow a regular regimen that includes taichi, calligraphy and kunqu training, in addition to meditation. “Blank-leaving” is another attempt to portray a sense of quiet and solemn meditation on the flight of life through music, realizing the epitome of “music from the heart”. It exhibits an air of pure other-worldliness, with random moments of hurried strings and winds, moving between stillness and motion. The concert revolves around the Ensemble’s Music Director and pipa soloist Wong Chi-ching, with guest performances by dizi and xiao player Zhang Fan and renowned local erhu player Zhang Guanjie.
