Mr. Alex Fan obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hong Kong, where he was awarded Baker & McKenzie Prize in Company Law and Helen A. Lo Prize in Principles of Family Law. He then pursued postgraduate studies at King’s College London where he obtained his Master of Laws in International Commercial Law with distinction and was awarded Associate of King’s College London.
Mr. Fan, upon graduation, embarked on his legal career with the Department of Justice, HKSAR Government and served in the prosecution division and the civil litigation unit. He was sometime Part-time Lecturer in Law at the Faculty of Law, the University of Hong Kong (2013 – 2016) and Visiting Lecturer at the Law School of Shenzhen University (2014 – 2016). Mr. Fan has extensive experience in both civil and criminal practice. His practice areas encompass commercial disputes, company law, shareholders’ disputes, securities and listing regulations, corporate compliance, corporate insolvency, property law, trusts law, probate administration and succession disputes, family law, intellectual property law, cross-border litigation as well as international commercial arbitration. Mr. Fan’s clients include commercial enterprises and public organizations from Hong Kong, the Mainland China and overseas.
Advocacy in court aside, Mr. Fan frequently provides legal advice, prepares and drafts legal documents and speaks in legal training workshops and seminars for sizeable law firms, commercial enterprises, public organizations and non-government organizations in Hong Kong, the Mainland China as well as overseas.
Mr. Fan has been appointed by the HKSAR Government to hold various positions of public service, including Member of Youth Development Commission, Member of Action Committee Against Narcotics, Member of Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund, Member of the Finance Committee of Hong Kong Housing Authority and Observer of Independent Police Complaints Council.
