Born in Munich, Germany, Florian Riem studied music at the Munich Conservatory and at Indiana University in Bloomington, USA. Working in Arts management since 1999, he has held leading positions at Gidon Kremer´s Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra (Latvia), Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa (Japan) and the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra of Constance (Germany). Chief Executive of the Tongyeong Intl. Music Foundation since 2014, he is responsible for Tongyeong Concert Hall, the annual Tongyeong international Music Festival, the international ISANGYUN Competition, and other projects in Korea. Florian Riem is a board member of AAPPAC (Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres) and WFIMC (World Federation of Intl. Music Competitions). Through the efforts of his team, in 2015 Tongyeong became a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
