Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Penni Hall has had a career in arts administration for over 15 years across a number of cultural forms and since 2012 has been Head of Administration for M+, the museum for visual culture as part of the ambitious West Kowloon Cultural District.
After beginning her career in Melbourne, in 2006 she moved to London where she worked for the National Theatre for 6 years, 3 of these as General Manager for the Discover Programme, the National's public engagement programme. After moving to Hong Kong in 2012 she took up her role with M+ to be part of the team taking on the challenge of creating a world-class museum for Hong Kong. With a main focus of acting as a bridge between the museum and other Authority departments, her role covers a variety of areas that support both the short-term needs and strategic planning of M+.
Each role being central to supporting the primary vision of the organisation has given her extensive knowledge into what makes an effective cultural organisation with an agility to understand and communicate the needs of both the creative and non-creative teams, which she hopes can contribute both to M+ and the broader Hong Kong cultural landscape.
