Highlight Recap - Guided tour of HSBC Central–Journey from the Past to Future

Highlight Recap

Guided tour of HSBC Central–Journey from the Past to Future
Guided tour of HSBC Central – Journey from the Past to Future organized by Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association was successfully held on February 22 at HSBC Main Building in Central.

We were delighted to have Ms Helen K Swinnerton, Senior Archives Manager, and Ms Florence Lo, Community & Education Programme Manager from HSBC Archives ASP to talk about HSBC newly developed mobile app “HSBC in Hong Kong: A Virtual Story”. We were also very glad to have Mr Billy C H Lam, Tour Coordinator, to introduce the HSBC Main Building to the participants of the tour.

Designed by renowned architect Mr Norman Foster, HSBC Main Building is one of the most iconic building in modern architectural design. It had become a symbol of Hong Kong, carrying significant meaning to Hong Kong citizens.

“HSBC in Hong Kong: A Virtual Story” is an app that tells the story of HSBC in Hong Kong through activating digital experiences around the physical exhibits at the Ground Plaza of the HSBC Main Building, where HSBC opened for business more than 150 years ago. With the used of augmented reality, the app brings the shared history of Hong Kong and HSBC to life from the past to the present, and through it, our participants were able to experience some of the most significant moments in the evolution of HSBC and Hong Kong through audio and visual content, including images from HSBC’s archives.

Thank you for joining “Guided tour of HSBC Central – Journey from the Past to Future”. Due to popular demand of “Guided tour of HSBC Central–Journey from the Past to Future” and “Guided tour of HSBC Archives – Hong Kong Stories”, re-runs of both tours will be held later this year. If you are interested to join the tours, please stay tuned on the updates of HKAAA.

Overseas Cultural Managers attracted to pursue EMA(AME) with its Unique Mode of Learning- Join EMA(AME) Class of 2017!
Since its launch in 2014, experienced cultural managers from six cities outside of Hong Kong have enrolled in the Executive Master of Arts in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship EMA(AME) of The Education University of Hong Kong. The EMA(AME) programme is specially designed to suit the busy schedule of experienced cultural managers from the region. Two intensive 10-to-12-day teaching periods (ITPs) are scheduled each year in February/ March and August in the two-year part-time programme. In between the intensive teaching periods, projects, peer learning and self-reflection are pursued through e-learning platforms.

Senior staff from Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Guangzhou Opera House, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Macau Cultural Bureau, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, Guangdong Modern Dance Company, Macau Oriental Foundation and Shanghai Concert Hall have joined the EMA(AME) programme since its inception. Together with experienced cultural managers from Hong Kong, the participants created a powerful learning and networking platform. Participants were excited to meet colleagues who have experiences they can learn from, which also lead to thought-provoking exchanges.

The programme provides ample opportunities for participants to learn first-hand from senior practitioners from the arts and cultural sectors. In addition to having cultural leaders as guest lecturers, the programme also presents a series of “Over-lunch with CEO”. Sharing from CEOs and senior arts practitioners from different companies inspired participants. Jones Lee, an independent producer and EMA(AME) alumni, said ‘The Over-lunch with CEO of different arts and culture organizations impressed me the most. We not only can get to know the latest developments  through their sharing, but can also learn valuable insights from the different successful cases. This is the most precious part of EMA(AME)’.

Executive Master of Arts in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship EMA(AME) of the Education University of Hong Kong is now accepting applications for the 2017 cohort! Application deadline is 23rd April 2017.

「劇場中的文化差異:種族議題的藝術處理及處理藝術」研討會
