With over 30 on-site job vacancies available, 10 participating arts organizations, we have received over 200 attendances for the whole event.

In response to the job market needs in arts administration, this Recruitment Day provided as a platform that visitors can directly speak to different arts groups representatives in Career Fair, as well as getting the opportunity to meet the HR on-site.

During the event, the Association also arranged two Human Library and Career Talk sessions respectively, from morning to afternoon, to share with interested participants about their stories as an Arts Manager, as well as the career development in Auction House/West Kowloon Cultural District.

On behalf of our team at HKAAA, we extend heartfelt thanks to the participating organizations, as well as our honoured Human Library and Career Talk guests. The Recruitment Day made possible with generous support from venue partner Jao Tsung-I Academy; media partner CTgoodjobs; supporting partner Human Library@HK; Mr Pong Yat Ming and the volunteer team.

Some of the most celebrated and respected artists are also committed teachers. Do artists who teach see education as part of their artistic practices? How do artists bring the values they affirm to bear upon their pedagogies? Join us on 31 August for the panel discussion, where four local artist educators, including Leung Mee Ping, Phoebe Man Ching Ying, Shirley Tse and Doris Wong Wai Yin, share their approaches to teaching and explore how artistic knowledge can be produced, transmitted, and enacted in the classroom, in the studio and beyond.

JOCKEY CLUB New Arts Power 2019: The Truth and Absolute Truth L’Orphelin

A Legend Retold through the Arts of the Body

“The disaster of lower palace” – Against the backdrop of the Era of Spring and Autumn, a tragedy arose from the slaughter of noble clan of Zhao in the Jin State by the treacherous minister, Tu’an Gu who framed them up, and ended with the revenge by the surviving orphan of Zhao after grown up. Being the first Chinese drama translated into European languages, this enduring tale also fell into the hands of numerous historians and artists, where traces of the tale are scattered in the Records of the Grand Historian (Shi Ji), Commentary of Zuo (Zuo Zhuan), New Preface (Xin Xu) and Garden of Sayings (Shuo Yuan).

As with any classic, numerous versions exist. Can we find out the absolute truth? Without stage settings nor historical costumes, the show retells the legend in sinuous, metaphorical body movements.  A powerful piece not to be missed!

Four “truths” in a murder.
How can one be free from the dirt?

In a grove happens a murder. Four persons are involved: the ‘fierce’ bandit, the ‘unyielding’ samurai, the ‘loyal’ wife and a woodcutter who ‘witnessed the truth’. Each tells a contradictory story. Last year Chung Ying presented the drama adaptation with Best Director awardee of the Hong Kong Drama Awards Tony Wong as the director, winning Best Director (Tragedy/Drama), Best Lighting Design and Outstanding Production of the Year from the Hong Kong Drama Awards. It is definitely a play you should never miss.
