HKAAA will also organize on-site career talks, so as to deepen job seekers' understanding towards the direction of the career path. This year, HKAAA specially adds the session of Career Fair and Human Library. 【Exclusive for HKAAA Members / Volunteers】SEE Series –– A Walk to Hong Kong Ballet Wardrobe Department (Featuring Programme: Peter Pan)
Presented by: Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association
Acknowledgement: Hong Kong Ballet

About SEE Series
Balancing the elements of a project – time, money, scope and people – is one of the biggest challenges faced by arts administrators. It is difficult to standardise each project into a formula. SEE stands for Share, Explore and Experience. To put things in perspective, different art groups will be invited to share their difficulties encountered and the solutions to tackle the issues with participants. At the same time, participants can also share their thoughts and opinions towards the performance or exhibition. The two-way communication allows participants to further explore and experience the performance/ artwork through the activity, with a final goal to enhance audience appreciation.

This time, we are pleased to invite Hong Kong Ballet to share with us their new Wardrobe Department in San Po Kong. Joanne will show us around and share with us the recent work – Peter Pan. If you would like to learn more about the work of Wardrobe Department, you shouldn't miss out this tour!

About Peter Pan (Asian Premiere)
"All children, except one, grow up"

Take a high-flying adventure to Neverland with the Asian premiere of Septime Webre’s Peter Pan! Bursting with irresistible freshness and fizz, this new take on J.M. Barrie's classic tale transports you to an island of cheeky pirates, Indian princesses and naughty boys who don't want to grow up. Meet Tinkerbell with her magical pixie dust and Captain Hook pursued by the hungry Crocodile!

Peter Pan features extravagant new costumes by Liz Vandal, whose ALICE (in wonderland) designs wowed Hong Kong audiences last season and won 'Outstanding Costume Design' at the 21st Hong Kong Dance Awards, as well as spectacular new sets by Holly Highfill that bring Neverland to life. With vibrant choreography that combines classical ballet, clever slapstick and a touch of hip hop set to an original sweeping score by Carmon DeLeon and performed live by Hong Kong Sinfonietta, this breath-taking production follows the adventurous Peter Pan through various hijinks with humour and heart. Perfect for the whole family!

【Highlight Recap】Meeting with Hong Kong Tourism Board
Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association held a meeting on 12 July 2019 (Fri), with 7 representatives from The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), including Mr Mason Hung, General Manger, Event & Product Development. During the meeting, HKAAA put forward the views on the current situation and policies of arts and culture development in Hong Kong, as well as listened to the government's strategies and directions of enhancing local cultural tourism in the future.

At present, HKAAA believed that the industry has shown some limitations due to lack of data on the tourist behaviour patterns. Besides, the support and budget for research and development were relatively insufficient, making the growth of Hong Kong cultural tourism slower than other neighbouring regions. Therefore, HKAAA suggested that the HKTB could publish more existing data to the industry and HKAAA members as reference.

In the upcoming future, the HKTB would actively strengthen the diversified development of local culture, supported with various types of arts events and cultural tours. The HKTB might also improve its web interface, such as adding the “Featured Story” of artists and professional arts administrators, so that the public could have more understanding towards different arts practitioners.

In addition, HKAAA suggested that HKTB could conduct extensive research into visitors’ profiles and preferences on Arts and Cultural aspect. HKAAA could invite members for a focus group interviews, with an aim to provide useful feedback to the industry. We hope that the research data, along with information on the latest tourism trends and patterns, as well as analyses and projections by international organisations, would be used for mapping out the HKTB's marketing strategies for different visitor source markets and segments, which served to enrich visitor experiences and to encourage the arts and culture sector in Hong Kong in full bloom.

【Hong Kong Dance Company Proudly Presented: String Music Dance Theatre Dance of Strings】
A stage performance where the wave of rhyme meets the shape of emotion.

The journey of exploration starts with familiar tunes of Chinese folk songs that emerged from the encounters of the bow and the string. The dance steps weaved the encounters into endless intersections that prompt resonating emotions.

In this piece of performance, Yang Yuntao, Artistic Director of Hong Kong Dance Company, works closely with Yao Jue, world-renowned violinist and Lam Fung, top Asia composer, to examine Chinese folk music with a Hong Kong perspective. It has been 5 years since Yang’s last cooperation with Yao in the Grand Dance Poem of The Butterfly Lovers. Once again, they create a beautiful performance that delights and enchants the audience.

Four “truths” in a murder.
How can one be free from the dirt?

In a grove happens a murder. Four persons are involved: the ‘fierce’ bandit, the ‘unyielding’ samurai, the ‘loyal’ wife and a woodcutter who ‘witnessed the truth’. Each tells a contradictory story. Last year Chung Ying presented the drama adaptation with Best Director awardee of the Hong Kong Drama Awards Tony Wong as the director, winning Best Director (Tragedy/Drama), Best Lighting Design and Outstanding Production of the Year from the Hong Kong Drama Awards. It is definitely a play you should never miss.
