Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival 2018
8 – 16 SEP

This year, the JF grows beyond the cinema to the newly restored Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts opening up new horizons for the festival through exciting new directions in programming. The "World Selections", "Artist Collections" and "Dance Film Lab" sections bring a new perspective of screendance. We are also thrilled to be working with the Pompidou Centre in Paris to co-organise the dance video screening at Tai Kwun, showcasing creative inspirations from European choreographers and the "non-professional body of dance", bringing dance from both trained and untrained bodies. Of course, the two festival highlights are back: "Local Focus" which features four new works from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China, and the finalist showcase of the JF Competition. This year, we are also introducing two live performances for the first time. IRIS interweaves the protagonists on film and in reality seeking the meaning of life. ICE widens our imagination to the Antarctica, reflecting on the predicament of climate warming through juxtaposing live performance and screendance.
