Highlight Recap – “Meet the Arts Leaders” Series – Helen Ng – 4 Decades of Artistic Reminiscenes
“Meet the Arts Leaders” Series – Helen Ng – 4 Decades of Artistic Reminiscenes organized by Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association was successfully held on 10 July at the Fringe Dairy, Fringe Club.

We are delighted to have renowned arts practitioners to share their challenges and anecdotes of working in different arts organizations. Ms Helen Ng, an experienced arts administrator, began her speech by sharing the changes of art scene in Hong Kong throughout the past thirty-nine years. She also brought out the importance of crisis management in arts administration with four case studies. Recently, Ms. Ng invited twenty-five predecessors in the art field to write their successful career and assembled their stories into her new book. Ms Clementine Chan, a freelance artist, shared her experience of transforming from an arts administrator to an artist as well as the benefits of having the experience of arts administration for an artist. The purpose of the above discussions is to help the audiences understand more about the nature and importance of arts administration.

The Work Project Clinches Gold at The A’ Design Award & Competition
Having opened only last September, with the vision to establish 'Office 2.0’ – the most optimal environment to meet the changing needs of today’s professionals for enhancing work productivity, The Work Project has already won a Gold award at the renowned A’ Design Award & Competition for the ‘Interior Space and Exhibition Design’ category. In addition, The Work Project is also one of eight finalists shortlisted at the well-respected INDE.Awards in the ‘Work Space’ category.

“I am very proud and humbled by the results that The Work Project has achieved since its inception. From day one I wanted to create a beautiful, modern working space with unprecedented flexibility for professionals to enhance their work productivity with their wellbeing at the very essential core,” said Junny Lee, Founder of The Work Project.  He added, “This is affirmation and recognition that our design thinking philosophy speaks to the needs of the knowledge worker today.”

The enviable multisensory co-working space has infused a combination of design features to make it a highly desirable work environment. These include elevated feature meeting rooms, each crafted with curved timber canopies that are lined with acoustic fabric soffits; an original hydroponic vertical garden, creating a plant filled environment to enhance work productivity; and shared spaces that are particularly designed to increase chance encounters, such as the lounges, work bars, and signature bean tables, which are sharing tables with playful curved edges that allow members to work individually while simultaneously encouraging interaction with one another.

Exhibition: “Between Art and Other Worlds” – by Artist Hanison Lau

“I don’t have bluish-green eyes, but since my childhood I have been able to see things that others cannot see.”

This summer, he will explore this affinity.

Music Nation: Slava's SnowShow
“Slava’s Snowshow is to clowning what Cirque du Soleil is to the circus…Slava’s Snowshow is as theatrical as it is simple, as involving as it is inspiring." - Variety

The highly-reviewed stage spectacle ‘Slava’s Snowshow’, which is set to leave audiences snow-bound in this hot summer, will come back to Hong Kong in August after a sell-out winter season ten years ago.

Music Nation is preparing to host the live event, created and staged by the most celebrated living clown, Russian pantomime artist Slava Polunin, from 1- 6 August at the Lyric Theatre, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Tickets on sale Thursday April 27
The show will be staged from 8:00pm on August 1-6, with two shows at 02:00pm and 08:00pm on August 5-6. Tickets are now available from Hong Kong Ticketing’s box offices and online at: http://www.hkticketing.com/events/WCSLAVA0817

The stage show, a visual masterpiece loved by teens and adults alike, comes highly recommended for children above eight years of age.

Slava’s Snowshow is a fusion of traditional and contemporary theatrical clowning that weaves a beautifully crafted, vibrant visual fantasy. Among the many unique and striking experiences Slava’s Snowshow will offer audiences is the creation of a winter snowstorm right inside the theatre. The show has entertained audiences in more than 30 countries and 120 cities, including New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro and Moscow. The London Times described the show as a theatre classic of the 20th century and dubbed Slava Polunin as ‘the best clown in the world’.
