Highlight Recap - HKAAA Annual General Meeting
Annual General Meeting of HKAAA was held at Steam Studio on 27 February 2017. During the meeting, participants had discussed different topics about the current development of HKAAA.
We would like to thanks our members for joining us on this occasion. HKAAA will try our best in the future to provide better service to all of our members and art administrators in Hong Kong.
 
Highlight Recap - Arts Executive Workshop – Envisioning the Arts : Strategy and Capacity Building
“Arts Executive Workshop – Envisioning the Arts: Strategy and Capacity Building” co-presented with Hong Kong University ExCEL3 project was successfully held on  18 and 25 February 2017.
 
To explore new perspective to build Art Capacity in Hong Kong, Five guest speakers from different professions in the society were invited to analysis the challenges that Art and non-government organizations are facing, and in the same time provide possible solutions to the problems.
 
The speakers were Professor Bernadette Tsui (Honorary Professor of Practice, Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of Hong Kong), Dr Rosanna Wong (Executive Director, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups), Mr Vincent Tsui (Chief Marketing Officer, Next Digital), Ms Lynn Yau (Chief Executive Officer, The Fabulous Theatre Connection), and Ms Cecilia Ho (President, Lee Hysan Foundation). Professor Bernadette Tsui was also the moderator of the workshop.
 
Group discussions were also one of the focus of the course. It had created a platform for participants to interexchange opinion and formulate new ideas.

International Teaching Team comprises Distinguished Academics and Senior Practitioners from Arts Cultural Industries --- Join the EMA(AME) Class of 2017!
Distinguished academics and senior practitioners from Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United Kingdom and USA join forces in the teaching team of Executive Master of Arts in Arts Management & Entrepreneurship (EMA[AME]). According to EMA(AME) graduates, the diverse background and high expertise of the professors and guest lecturers made a strong impact on their learning.

EMA(AME) has collaborated with The Institute of Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship ICCE at Goldsmiths, University of London which enabled Goldsmiths professors to teach three courses related to “creative entrepreneurship” in the EMA(AME) programme. From theory to practice, ICCE courses nurture the skills and attitudes of participants to allow them to become innovators and leaders in the field of arts management.
 
Executive Master of Arts in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship EMA(AME),presented by The Education University of Hong Kong, is now accepting applications for the 2017 cohort. Since 2014, the EMA(AME) programme has established a powerful learning and networking platform for  experienced cultural managers from 7 cities.

HKDI CIMT Grand Opening
HKDI Centre of Innovative Material and Technology (CIMT) is established as a comprehensive material archive and interactive learning platform to facilitate the exchange of material knowledge and associated applications amongst students, faculty, designers and manufacturers. The objective of CIMT is to connect the material industry and the world of design, stimulate new ideas, research and developments, cross-disciplinary projects, thereby inspiring the designs of tomorrow through the materials of today. Its collection ranges from the latest innovative, cross-industry materials from global suppliers, various manufacturing processes and inspired end products.

The Grand Opening of CIMT is scheduled on 7 April 2017. Throughout the period 15 March-30 April 2017, a series of events will be rolled out in celebration of the Grand Opening. These include themed exhibitions featuring the latest technology and material applications, seminars and workshops conducted by renowned artists, designers and media experts, open to participation by students, academics, industry and the general public.

「劇場中的文化差異:種族議題的藝術處理及處理藝術」研討會
(Chinese Version Only)
本港戲劇界別發展數十年,翻譯劇演出向來佔一重要席位。透過這扇窗,我們能體驗別國文化差異,擴闊國際視野。
 
歐美地區種族多元化,編劇編寫人物角色時,不時會出現不同種族,反映當地文化。處理涉及種族題材的劇本時,歐美劇場導演多按照劇本設定的角色種族選角,而不再以白人演繹黑人或亞洲人等角色。但華人或亞洲地區劇場的演員種族單一,呈現涉及不同種族的外國劇作時,如何不冒犯別國文化禁忌、而真實地呈現劇本內容,是一大挑戰。
 
各國文化存在差異,各地表演藝術的發展步伐難以一致,文化生態更迥然不同。以中英劇團即將上演的美國翻譯劇《谷爆笠水帶位員》(The Flick)為例,由華人演員演繹劇中非裔美籍人士一角時並無作特別化妝處理,以尊重不同種族。同樣的處境,數十年前的處理手法與今天的處理手法亦會由於各國文化生態轉變而有所不同,值得戲劇同業借鏡及反思。在劇場塑造角色時,如何做到像真之餘且能尊重別國文化?忠於原著、忠於角色的種族會否窒礙藝術創作?從形象塑造角色,會否構成種族、性別、年齡、殘疾歧視?藝術創作的尺度應如何釐定?版權代理作為中介人,能否減低版權持有人與藝團的磨擦?是次研討會將以此劇作引旨,與同業探討東西方劇場對種族處理的看法及須注意的文化禁忌。
