Orleanl Lai founded her curatorial/production unit – orleanlaiproject, focuses in curating hybrid collaboration. At the same time, her company is also constantly evolving in its capacity and shape; from project management in the early stage, to introducing and organsing productions with distinctive cross-media characteristics, from audio-visual and media art to music and dance. In recent years, orleanlaiproject has taken an even more proactive role, in initiating, curating and producing collaborative productions, and involving in artistic development with artists in projects, to explore new possibility of presentation formats and fuse the boundary of art forms and mediums.
Her produced performances include: 1984 – a cinematic opera by Nerve (2014); Digital Hug (2011) and CouCou on MARS (2013) – new media music performance by GayBird, and more. In 2014, Orlean was invited to curate an exhibition - Zoo as Metaphor at Oi!- Oil Street Art Space. The project was an attempt in taking an exhibition space for experiential journey of narrative and performance. It opened her up for further experiment in 2014-15, by curated the Project ACROSS series of three experiential exhibitions.
Orlean Lai as an independent curator & creative producer has received a grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for the "Research Programme for Leaders from Local Arts Groups on Future Arts Development in Hong Kong" (2016-17) for investigating on the interdisciplinary arts in Europe. She is member of the Asian Producers’ Platform (APP) and she is also an Asia Cultural Council Fellowship recipient of 2016.
