Cultural Leadership Summit is Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association (HKAAA)’s annual major event. With different themes every year, the HKAAA pursues professionalism and constructive dialogue in the practice of arts administrators. With the theme “The Art of Successful Collaboration”, this year’s Cultural Leadership Summit aims to explore the possibilities of collaborations within the culture field and beyond, promoting more integration between arts, business and other sectors for a prosperous future. We will be looking for collaborative frameworks that inspire us to engage in new and different ways within our creative environment, with impacts far reaching beyond the sectoral boundaries.

The Summit will benefit arts administrators from all sizes of organizations, arts entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and decision makers of non-profit sector and corporations, as well as anyone who is tasked with developing collaborative spirit and relationships in the future of their arts and programmes.

Speakers:

Event Horizon Hong Kong is the most extensive public art installation ever seen in the city. The 31 sculptures looking out into space installed at both street level and building tops around a kilometre wide zone across Hong Kong’s Central and Western districts have been a part of the Hong Kong cityscape, on show until 18 May 2016.

Created by the internationally acclaimed British artist, Sir Antony Gormley, this ambitious installation has generated a wide range of dialogue and debate since it was launched on 19 November 2015. It not only encourages the pubic to question how the human nature responds to our man-made built environment, but also gives the community some food for thought.

Riding on the completion of this tremendous installation project, the British Council, presenter of Event Horizon Hong Kong, has invited an unparalleled panel of speakers to share their views on the future development of public art. The discussion will offer a unique insight into the Event Horizon story, as well as the many challenges that we have encountered along the way.  The panel will discuss how we could interpret the diverse responses towards public art, what the key learning and lessons are, and how we can encourage public engagement in the arts, especially in the public urban realm.

Let’s explore what and how we could do differently to contribute to the cultural life of Hong Kong.

In partnership with Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association, the panel discussion is a pre-2016 Cultural Leadership Summit event.

About the Exhibition
The exhibition of Le French May "Claude Monet : The Spirit of Place" will be held from 4 May to 11 July 2016 at Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Each section of the exhibition is dedicated to a specific place in France or Europe. There are four sections in total: Normandy and Brittany; Paris and the Ile-de-France region; London and Venice; and Giverny with its famous water lilies. Each section features an audiovisual and multimedia display with images from Monet's time and today.
