Rachel Catanach is Senior Vice President, Senior Partner and Managing Director of FleishmanHillard's Hong Kong office. She has over 25 years' experience advising senior public and private sector clients in Asia Pacific on branding, reputation management, financial communications and crisis/issues management.
Rachel started her communications career as a business journalist and at in-house public relations positions in New Zealand before joining the consultancy ranks. A well-rounded counselor, she has advised senior clients across the government, financial, technology, hospitality and luxury sectors, consulting on branding strategy, executive profiling, high-profile merger and acquisition activities, private equity deals, sensitive issues management, initial public offerings, reputation management strategies, and strategic events.
Rachel was appointed Chairman of the Council of Public Relations of Hong Kong in June 2013. She is a regular commentator on branding and reputation management issues and speaker at industry conferences. In 2014, she was awarded Public Affairs Asia's Gold Standard Award for Professional Excellence (Consultancy). In that year she also received a Sabre Award from the Holmes Report for Persuasive Content. In 2010, she received FleishmanHillard's prestigious John D. Graham Award, which is given to counselors who demonstrate outstanding leadership and exemplify the firm's values.
Rachel has a passionate interest in the arts both as a performer and supporter. A violinist by training, she performs in the Hong Kong SAR Philharmonic Orchestra's regular charity concerts and has provided pro bono support to a number of arts organisations including Hong Kong Ballet, Para Site, and Premiere Performances of Hong Kong.
